Later, Olan worked for Logan Correctional Center as a food supervisor, the Weyerhaeuser Company box factory in Lincoln, and as a part-time security guard. Olan was the founding pastor for the Bible Baptist Church in Havana, IL (now Grace Baptist Church) and also served in San Jose at the First Baptist Church. Together, Olan and Karen ministered in churches in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. Upon his return, he joined his father at Oradell Hardware Center and ran the store until the early 1990’s. From 1964-1965 Ed served in Korea as a postmaster for the troops there. Very soon after getting married, Ed was drafted into the US Army and attended basic training in Fort Dix, NJ before the newlyweds moved to Fort Riley in Kansas for a year. He eventually met and married his wife, Joan Ann Marsala of Hillsdale in 1963. After high school, Edward worked in construction before becoming a mailman in Emerson. He attended elementary and middle school in Oradell before graduating in 1957 from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood. His parents, older sister Evelyn, and Edward soon returned to Oradell and he grew up in a house on Kinderkamack Road and later on Garden Place. While born in Joliet, Illinois in 1939, his parents, aunts and uncles all grew up in Oradell, and the large Morse family was very familiar to all. Morse, a longtime resident of Hillsdale, passed away on Februat the age of 83.
